JTATE Editor Applications

The Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) Journal Search Committee invites nominations and applications for a qualified individual (or group of editors) to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Technology & Teacher Education (JTATE).
Established in 1997, the Journal of Technology & Teacher Education (JTATE) is the official journal of SITE, published by AACE and serves as a forum for the exchange of knowledge about the use of information technology in teacher education. Journal content covers preservice and inservice teacher education, graduate programs in areas such as curriculum and instruction, educational administration, staff development instructional technology, and educational computing.
It is the number one ranked journal in the area of Teacher Education and Technology.
The search committee seeks a broad-based experienced scholar to serve as Editor-in-Chief, a person (or group of editors) who will maintain JTATE’s rigor in publishing cutting-edge, high-quality research.
The new editor(s) will serve for an initial term of three years (renewable). They will have the opportunity to shadow the outgoing editor prior to the transition. The editor(s) are responsible for producing four issues of JTATE each year.
The responsibilities of the editor(s) include:
- Overseeing and managing a rigorous review process, making final decisions on acceptance and rejection of articles
- Demonstrating a strong knowledge of the field
- Providing guidance to authors for preparing and submitting manuscripts
- Opportunity to write editorials accompany selected issues/volumes
- Meeting publication deadlines
- Leading and attending meetings as needed
- Recruiting reviewers
- Promoting the journal and recruiting manuscripts as needed
- Opportunity to attend the annual SITE conference (March/April) and the annual
- National Technology Leadership Summit (NLTS) (September)
Collaborating with other SITE and/or AACE Editors as appropriate (e.g. Journal of Online Learning Research (JOLR), Contemporary Issues in Technology & Teacher - Education (CITE) and Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education).
- Create and support special issues; provide guidance and oversight for special issue guest editors.
- Partner with the AACE Director of Publication on important journal needs (i.e., indexing, marketing, ethics, conference affiliation)
Desired qualifications for this position include:
- Demonstrated successful editorial experience
- Ability to oversee and manage rigorous review process and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively, including a history of working with SITE/AACE/NTLS communities
- Track record of substantial publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals
- Extensive experience as a reviewer for journals and conferences
- International reputation or growing international reputation in the field.
